Julia Green

On 4th April 2024 Julia Green treated us to a wonderful performance of some of her favourite songs.

It was thrilling to hear a truly gifted singer, with no microphones or electronic ‘improvement’, just pure talent.

Here is a short biography of Julia.

Professional Life

  • Trained at Dartington College of Arts / Rolle College
  • Secondary School Music and Drama Teacher
  • Assistant Headteacher
  • Retired from full time teaching in 2012
  • Singing Teacher  – retired in 2018

Hobbies and Interests

  • Ran three community choirs up until 2018
  • Currently fronting a small a capella vocal group: A CaBella, based in Whimple, East Devon
  • Regular performer with local musical societies – played roles such as : Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady), Ado Annie (Oklahoma), Sally Bowles (Cabaret), Mrs Lovett (Sweeney Todd), and Jessie (Calendar Girls the Musical)
  • Run workshops with primary and secondary school pupils.
  • Semi-professional singer.
  • Entertains at local Care Homes.
  • Regular speaker with WI across Devon.
  • Currently volunteering for Hospital Radio at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
  • Governor at Whimple Primary School until July 2023
  • Former Elf at Otter Nurseries!
  • Ambassador for Tropic Skincare

Family Life

  • Originally from Grays, Essex.
  • Currently living in Whimple, East Devon.
  • Married to Richard for 24 years.
