Members of the Budleigh & Raleigh Probus Clubs met up at the Budleigh Croquet Club for a friendly but competitive game of croquet on Monday, (July 17th 2023).

Before the match, both teams received some coaching from members of the croquet club who also offered advice to the players during the match. There were nine players on each side, playing two rounds of five matches lasting about two hours.

After a closely fought contest, Raleigh Probus were the victors by six points to four.
After the match, the players, plus supporters and members of the croquet club retired to the club house for a well-earned drink and a fish and chip supper. There was plenty of banter between the teams in the clubhouse and it was agreed that this would become an annual fixture.

Tony Venning, chairman of the Budleigh club and David Hemmings, chairman of the Raleigh club thanked all those who helped make this a success and the croquet club members for hosting the event.
